I have to say, though, that that cover is WAY cooler than the pastel-colored romance novels. Yuck. And I LIKE Jane Austen-esque romance novels!Rebecca Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06062252252301802298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-21411377855681776662010-03-24T20:53:54.590-05:002010-03-24T20:53:54.590-05:00I definitely think you should try more Heyer. I enjoyed this mystery but the title made no impression at all until I read your review. She is not as good as mysteries as at historical romance but still manages to entertain.CLMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03595294217111602231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-8280497434336206412010-03-23T15:07:50.537-05:002010-03-23T15:07:50.537-05:00I hadn't heard about Georgette Heyer until thi...I hadn't heard about Georgette Heyer until this past year either - I stumbled across a display of her books in a Barnes & Noble.Tribute Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16959016294721462184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-58161290143653219812010-03-23T12:23:04.173-05:002010-03-23T12:23:04.173-05:00Looking forward to it, sounds good.Looking forward to it, sounds good.Tribute Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16959016294721462184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-43288439796419627802010-03-23T12:23:04.174-05:002010-03-23T12:23:04.174-05:00Looking forward to it, sounds good.Looking forward to it, sounds good.Tribute Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16959016294721462184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-18024041173807601922010-03-22T15:44:09.441-05:002010-03-22T15:44:09.441-05:00I love Georgette Heyer! There are better mystery books out there, and definitely better Georgette Heyers.

Also, I don't actually think she's at all like Jane Austen. I think that might just be said because she writes about the same sort of period and it's not particularly 'heavy' reading.

They're different kinds of books, though, and stylistically not at all similar. Georgette Heyer is just light and rompy and a lot of fun. It's well-written light, rompy fun, but it's not like Austen. She writes some purposefully silly plots with some absolutely excellent heroines.

If you're thinking of getting into it, then I think The Grand Sophy is a great place to start!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01309537060978872493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19303578.post-72516932339888858402010-03-22T10:23:26.838-05:002010-03-22T10:23:26.838-05:00Sounds intriguing!
